Nebraska City is located adjacent to the Missouri River 140 miles north of Kansas City. Grain originates off the farm from eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. These facilities have licensed capacity of 9.2 million bushels of upright, flat storage and temporary storage. Significant improvements were made in 2002 increasing storage capacity by 3.3 million bushels, adding an additional truck scale to increase efficiency and improving the efficiency of the rail/barge load out system.
Nebraska City loads 100 car unit trains for shipment to feedlots, southern poultry markets, Gulf and export to Mexico. Nebraska City is served by the Union Pacific Railroad. With both rail and barge capability, Nebraska City offers arbitrage opportunities and competitive advantages in the region.
